Subhakorn, Alisar and Chomphunut, activists from a group called “Ratsadon Tai” (The People of the South), were accused of lèse-majesté and sedition under the Penal Code, and of entering any computer data which is an offence related to national security into a computer system under Section 14(3) of the Computer-related Crime Act. They allegedly doctored the King's portrait and pictures of monuments and landmarks in Phatthalung with messages that are deemed to be a lèse-majesté offence. Following this, they posted 5 and 15 doctored pictures on the Facebook fan pages "Phatthalung Podaek" (Free Phatthalung) and "Prachathipatai Nai Damkwan" (Democracy in Southern Thailand) respectively. The alleged offences were committed between 24-25 November 2020, about 3 days before the King was scheduled to visit Phatthalung.
