Aod: Hanging the banner called for the separation of Lanna State in Mae Lao District Chiang Rai

In the early of 2014 banners written "This country has no justice we want to seperate Lanna State" hung in several areas in Northern provinces. The message was expected to be expression of anger toward the order of the Civil Court to prohibit the crackdown of political rally of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), a right wing movement that occupied several interection in Bangkok in the early of 2014 to demand the resignation of Yingluck Shinawatra
Aod, Thanormsri and Suksiam were accused to hang a banner with written message " This country has no justice we want to separate Lanna State" on the flyover near Pa Kor Dam Market in Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai Province. The banner which was exhibit of this case was found on 28 February 2014.
Prior to this case, the three were also prosecuted other two sedition case, one caused by similar incident in Mueang District of Chiang Rai Provice as well as incident Mueang District of Phayao Province.
The Court of the First Instance already rendered a verdict of other two cases. The one in Mueang District of Chiang Rai Province the court found the three defendants guilty and sentence them to 3 years in prison but prison sentence was suspended. The other in Mueang District of Phayao Province the court found the defendants no guilty as witnesses and evidences of the prosecution cannot prove that the defendants had committed the offense according to the accusation.
The Chiang Rai Provincial Court proceeded with witnesses examination in June 2018. The prosecutor had 5 witnesses testified to the court while the defendants only testified as witnesses on their behalf. On 30 August 2018, the Chiang Rai Provincial Court aqquitted the defendants. This case is now concluded.
