Suchanee: Chicken Farm Thammakaset sued VoiceTV reporter

One of the cases in an epic conflict between Thammakaset company which operated poultry farm business and 14 Myanmar workers. Suchanee, a reporter of VoiceTV, quoted a tweet on labor court decision and explained the case as slavery. The company considered as defamation by means of publications and filed lawsuits at police station but later the public prosecutor issued a non-prosecution order. The company then decided to file the case to the court by itself. 

Lop Buri Provincial Court accepted this case and conducted witness examination. The court had delivered the verdict to sentence the defendant 2 years in prison without suspension. The case is under process of appeal.

The Court of Appeal dismissed the charge given that the Labor Court also confirmed the fact related to working condition. The defendant as a journalist has duty to report and as a citizen has the right to faiithful criticism for public interest.
