On 13 October 2016, Sunthorn posted two messages that likely to be offense against the king and the heir apparent on his facebook. The first message was posted at 6.50 pm and the later was posted at 11.04 pm.
Later on 14 October 2016, the military from the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, Queen's Guard arrested Sunthorn. According to Sunthorn's relative, Sunthorn is suffering from mental sickness the military then brought Sunthorn to a hospital for mental check up.

Sunthorn posted a messge deemed to be a defamation to the King and a message deemed to be a defamation to the Heir on his personal Facebook. His act was alleged to be a violation of Criminal Code Section 112 and Computer-related Crimes Act.

Facebook account Srihanart Chaiyarit reported that Sunthorn was brought to the hospital after the arrest.

Sunthorn posted messages deemed to be a violation of lese majeste law on his personal Facebook at around 18.50 and another one at 23.04.
14 October 2016,
Around 16.14 a user of Facebook Account Srihanart Chaiyarit posted a picture of military officers searching a house with a caption said "Now visit the house, the relatives said that mand posted that thing because of the mental illness. That person was taked to be examined. The military is investigating about the metal condition".
Later, around 17.37, the same Facebook account posted a picture of three military officers standing in front of a house with a message that "There is no one at the house of the lese majeste guy, thank you the picture from the military unit". Such post was set to be public. There are around 1,700 reactions, 412 comments and 1,000 shares.
On the same post, there were also pictures captured from a chat box between the post owner and a Facebook user named 'Ran Jey Keng Ban Sang' that "Now military officers arrived at that guy's house, they are here to see the medical certification and discuss with the parents to solve the problem. That guy was already sent to hospital. Relatives are bringing the phone to a shop to delete the Facebook because noone can find the password. (The parents send apology to all Thai people) We are in the same community.
