‘Khon Kaen model’ is a cases where 26 defendants were prosecuted together. Most of them were arrested in a few days after NCPO staged a coup in 2014 for having a meeting in a hotel. They were charged for gathering of more than 5 persons but later linked to weapons and charged with serious offences, preparation of terrorist.
Defendants were detained in prison for several months before got bail one by one in the late of 2014. The defendants denied all charges. Many of them don’t know each other before got arrested and did not joined any political movement. The case tried in military court in Khon Kaen where the court room was too small for all defendants and lawyers.
The plaintiff proposed 90 witnesses but the trial went very slow until the NCPO was dissolved and the case then trasferred to civillian courts.
