  There has been a dramatic change in the situation of freedom of assembly and expression since the 22 May 2014 coup by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). Under the power granted by martial law, the NCPO declared Announcement No.7/2557, which prohibited political gatherings of more than 5 persons.
