In 2022 a joint investigative collaboration by iLaw, DigitalReach and the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto revealed widespread Pegasus spyware targeting of Thai activists and politicians. One of the 35 confirmed targets, well-known activist Jatupat “Pai” Boonpattararaksa, filed a case against NSO Group in July 2023.
Boonpattararaksa’s lawsuit against NSO Group has attracted international attention as it is among the furthest along of any of the lawsuits brought against the notorious spyware company by a victim, anywhere in the world.
On November 21, 2024, the Civil Court will deliver a ruling on the case. This event, held the day after the anticipated ruling, will interpret the court’s decision and help make sense of what’s next. This event will also look how the ruling can contribute to the next step of the work on spyware accountability in Thailand, and the impact it will have on other cases in the world that NSO Group is facing.
