13 May 2020 marked the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Maj.Gen. Khattiya Sawasdipol. Khattiya was shot on the same date in 2010 by sniper near Saladang intersection while he joined protest of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD – aka the Red Shirt)
On 11 may 2020, a couple day before the anniversary Anurak, a red shirt activist posted photo of Khattiya with the text mentioned the date time and venue that commemoration activity will be held. He also posted message on his facebook informed those who intend to join the activity to fully cooperate with the police and reaffirm that after lit the candle and observe silence for mourning the participants should leave immediately to avoid any action that may against Emergency Decree.
However, on the date Anurak was brought to Lumpini Police Station after the activity was concluded. The police inform him accusation under Emergency Decree, reasoned that while the activity is going on, number of participants did not wear face mask, some gathering to take photo in large group or gathering to had conversation without distancing between person which posted risk to the spread of covid-19. Anurak also did not seek for permission to organize this activity.
Anurak initially denied allegation. The police release him in the same day after he deposit cash in the sum of 40000 Baht to bail himself out.
