On 25 July 2017, at the Central Women Correction Institution the police arrested Natthatida Meewungpla, who is one of 17 accused in the case related to bomb at Ciminal Court building, right after she was released on bail from aforementioned case and bring her to Crime Suppression Division. By way of explanation, the police informed that Natthatida charged under lese majeste law (section 112 the Criminal Code) for sharing messages on line application which took place in 2015
Natthatida, aka Whaen, was prosecuted at military court and detained in prinson continuously before the bail was approved n 4 September 2018 with 900,000 baht as security for two cases. On 6 August 2019, the case was transferred to Nonthaburi Provincial Court due to the end of NCPO. The case was tried behind closed door in both courts.
Natthatida insisted that she did not send or share the alleged message. The plaintiff witnesses also could not indentify the source and verify the truth if the evidence. The plaintiff cannot prove beyond resonable doubt that the defendant committed such offense. Nonthaburi Provincial Court dismissed the case on 28 January 2021.
Defendant Background
Natthathida, aka Whaen, was a volunteer nurse during the redshirt protest and crackdown in 2010. She is also an important witness in the case where 6 people shot dead inside the Pathum Wanaram Temple during the crackdown. Her testimony in the case led to court's autopsy order that the bullets come from military side.
