Aod: Hanging the banner called for the separation of Lanna State in Mueang District Phayao

In the early of 2014 banners written "This country has no justice we want to seperate Lanna State" hung in several areas in Northern provinces. The message was expected to be expression of anger toward the order of the Civil Court to prohibit the crackdown of political rally of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), a right wing movement that occupied several interection in Bangkok in the early of 2014 to demand the resignation of Yingluck Shinawatra including in Muang District Phayao Province.
In August 2014, Aod Thanormsri and Sooksayam, Red Shirt activists from Chiang Rai province who were found guilty in a sedition case for hung a banner written "There was no justice in this country, we want to separate a Lanna State" on a flyover in Chiang Rai Province were once again charge with sedition for a similar banner that was found in Phayao province in the same period of time with the one found in Chiang Rai province. All three defendants pleaded no guilty and affirmed that they did not involved with the case in Phayao province.
The Phayao Provincial Court proceeded with examination in September and in November 2017. The prosecution had 16 witnesses testified before the court while the defendant presented only 3 witneese whowere the three defendants testified on their belalf
On18 January 2018, the Phayao Provincial Court aquitted all defendant on the ground that witnesses and evidences cannot proved that the three defendant had committed the offense. As for the banner the court order to confiscated.
The presocutor later appealed the case, the Court of Appeal upheld verdict of the Court of the First Instance aquitted all the defendant on 21 September 2018.
